Why Montauk?

We spend our summers in Amagansett, the next town over in the Hamptons, so this is a special area for us. We both grew up near the water, and love the beach. Also, Montauk is a surfing town. Drew likes to say that we “took up surfing” a few years ago. Translation: We took three lessons.

When should I arrive?

Whenever you like, though Montauk is more than two hours from Manhattan, so it’s not a convenient day trip. We suggest arriving at latest on Friday, joining us for cocktails that evening, and heading home Sunday after brunch. Or, rent a house and stay for the week!

Where should we stay?

There are a lot of lodging choices in Montauk and nearby towns. For our room blocks, visit the Lodging page.

What should we wear?

Well, we’ll be getting dressed up. But this isn’t a formal wedding–think beach elegant. The ceremony will likely on the beach, so plan your footwear accordingly. And the weather can vary in May, so don’t forget a sweater/jacket/shawl.

Are there other things to do in Montauk?

One of the reasons we chose the town for our wedding is that it offers lots of activities. Relax on the beach, take a surfing lesson, go deep-sea fishing, try horseback riding, hike in the dunes, visit the lighthouse, play miniature golf, rent a little sailboat, or just grab an ice cream cone and wander around the shops.
